We use The Baby Book, by William Sears, M.D., and Martha Sears (Little, Brown), more than any other. It is down-to-earth and full of practical experience (in addition to having eight kids of their own, William is a pediatrician and Martha is a nurse). The authors do promote breastfeeding, but they explain how it can be an option for adoptive parents, as well--they say that Martha was breastfeeding their adopted daughter when they wrote the book. It inspired me to breastfeed our daughter, too.
