Sorting through feelings is great, but kids also need skills for dealing with the day-to-day trials of brothers and sisters. For that, turn to Oh, Brother…Oh, Sister! by Brooks Whitney. This chapter book for girls ages eight to 12 is a practical guide to living with those other kids whose parents you share. The lively, colorful pages address birth order, dealing with pests, the best and worst things about being a sibling, and how to get along when you must share a room. The writing is hip and enjoyable, as well as adoption-friendly. According to my ten-year-old, Claire, this book gives “solutions and ways to compromise with brothers or sisters. I like the quizzes you can take with your brothers, and you also get to read what other kids say. I recommend this book!
