The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has designated May 15, 2017 as “Post-Adoption Report Day” and is calling for all parents who adopted internationally to submit any outstanding reports. Several countries with international adoption programs require post-adoption reports from families at specified intervals to track the welfare of children following their adoptions. In their April 18 adoption notice, the DOS cites missing post-adoption reports as “a persistent obstacle to expanding opportunities for intercountry adoption” and stated that “some countries have conditioned the resumption of intercountry adoption on receipt of missing post-adoption reports.”

If you adopted internationally and neglected to file one or more post-adoption reports, please consult with your adoption agency and/or the country-specific pages on the DOS’s website for guidelines concerning the contents and submission of the reports.
